Everything sites usually hide, on one page
The fine print
One page for all of it: who we are, how the money works, what we promise editorially, what we collect about you (almost nothing), and the legal lines. Written in the same voice as the rest of the site, because a policies page you can't read isn't a policy — it's camouflage.
About BoothSense
BoothSense is written and maintained by a small editorial team — bylined as “the BoothSense desk” because the work is collective and we'd rather earn trust through checkable claims than through headshots. The site does one job: measurement-first noise help for people recording voice-over and audiobooks at home. Noise floors, published specs, gain staging, software chains, and the honest limits of all of the above. Deliberately outside our lane: hardware reviews, room-treatment builds, and step-by-step editor tutorials — other corners of the internet do those well, and a site you trust should be able to say “not our beat.”
How the money works
Some links on BoothSense are affiliate links. Every one of them: is routed through a visible /go/ URL so you can see it coming; carries rel="sponsored" so search engines see it too; and sits next to a plain-language disclosure at the point of recommendation, not buried here alone. If you buy through one, the vendor may pay us a commission; your price doesn't change. As of this page's last update (2026-09-20), our only affiliate relationship is with Krisp; every other tool we mention — Audacity, the ACX Check plugin, OS features, alternatives we name in comparisons — pays us nothing, and we recommend several of them anyway, often first and for free. Commissions never set conclusions: the clearest proof is that our most-linked recommendation on the entire site is a free plugin.

What we promise editorially
- Fragile facts carry dates. Prices, plan limits, and published specs change without notice, so wherever we print one you'll find the date we verified it and, in spirit, an instruction to re-check before you rely on it. When our page and a vendor's page disagree, the vendor's current page wins.
- No invented testing. When we describe typical noise-floor ranges or household patterns, we label them as typical patterns and hand you the protocol to measure your own — we don't dress up estimates as lab results.
- Limitations get equal billing. Every tool page on this site includes what the tool can't do. If a page ever reads like an ad, hold us to this paragraph.
- Corrections, fast and visible. Spot an error? Tell us and we'll fix the page, not defend it.
Privacy
We collect as close to nothing as a modern website can. No accounts, no newsletter, no comments, no tracking pixels from ad networks. Visit counts come from our CDN, Cloudflare, as anonymous aggregates — which pages get read, roughly from where — so we know what to write next; it sets no analytics cookies, and we store nothing of our own in your browser. Affiliate /go/ links take you to vendors whose own privacy policies then apply; we don't see who clicked, only counts. We never sell, rent, or share anything about you, largely because there's nothing to share.
Terms of use
BoothSense is educational information about audio recording, offered in good faith and without warranty. It is not legal, financial, or career advice, and specs quoted here — however carefully verified — are controlled by the organizations that publish them, who can change them after our verification date. Confirm current requirements with the platform you're submitting to before acting on anything here; a missed contract or a returned audiobook is a bad exchange for skipping a two-minute re-check. Content is © BoothSense; quote it with attribution and a link. Don't scrape the site wholesale or republish it as your own — that's both the legal line and just manners.
